             abstract = "This work presents an authoring tool for the construction of 
                         virtual reality (VR) immersive environments using spherical 
                         panoramas associated with the concept of augmented panoramas. This 
                         tool allows the creation of augmented panoramas from previously 
                         acquired images, using a web server, and it also allows the 
                         association of the objects present on the panorama with a database 
                         to provide information about them in the VR environment. The tool 
                         was utilized to build an immersive environment based on a power 
                         substation, where images from a real substation were acquired, and 
                         data about the equipment was consulted through communication with 
                         the data acquisition systems of the substation.",
