AbstractTopological data structures have been used to support applications that work with planar subdivisions. Many of these applications require an hierarchical representation not supported by the usual data structures. This paper proposes a topological data structure to represent hierarchical planar subdivisions. A set of operators needed to model such subdivisions is presented and discussed.
