		<abstract>This paper describes the development of an image processing system based on a PC microcomputer. The digitized images are obtained by a low cost handy scanner. The program generates the gray scale image using dithering images. The processing techniques consist of counting sixteen pixels of ones or zeros in a 4 x 4 matrix, moved over the image and generating the equivalent gray level. Some algorithms of edge detectors have been implemented and some results are appreciated.</abstract>
