AbstractThe stochastic ray-tracing method simulates the transport f luminous energy by tracing rays in a stochastic fashion. By treating the propagation of light in a probabilistic way, this method was developed with the aim of implementing it for problems of light distribution. It suggests a good solution when dealing with the scattering phenomena that occur in the propagation and reflection of light. We implemented this method as an extension to a traditional ray tracer. In this way effects of penumbrae and blurred reflection are included in the generation of realistic images.
