The organization of this SIBGRAPI Digital Library Archive is based on the idea of Uniform Repository for a Digital Library - URLib, proposed by Gerald Banon.

SIBGRAPI' organizing committee would like to thank Dr. Gerald Jean Francis Banon, Sergio Donizete Faria, Dr. Luiz Henrique de Figueiredo, Ambrozina Vasconcellos Magalhães and Vagner Roberto Benedicto for organizing this collection. The Committee is also grateful to General Coordination of Earth Observation (OBT - INPE) for its financial support in 1999 and 2002.

In April 2013, the then president of the Comissão Especial de Computação Gráfica e Processamento de Imagens (CEGRAPI), Luis Gustavo Nonato, congratulated the Marcelo Walter's iniciative of producing the electronic version of the first nine SIBGRAPI Proceedings under the coordination of Gerald Jean Francis Banon and by hiring the library science fellow Cíntia Graziele Silva.
